NaNoWriMo 2016 – Week 1

It’s November, which means that more or less all I am doing is NaNoWriMo. With that, here’s a quick progress report.

Words – 12,723 / 50,000
Chapters – 5 / 25
Words / Chapter – 2,544

I’ve made a good start. November is but four days old and I am at about the six day mark in terms of chapter progress, and somewhere north of the seven day mark by word count.

And the story is going well. As I related before I am having another go at a story I tried writing back in 2006. While I won NaNoWriMo that year (barely – I validated at 50,003 words) the actual words I wrote were in aggregate very bad. Very, very bad.

Having a more or less complete outline, reasonably fleshed out characters and (more importantly) character relationships while also fixing the cardinal error of not using an established character in a story where lots of people ought to be dying has made a huge difference to the success of the writing.

I will probably be slowing down a little next week. I am very tired today.
